The Survival of the Stickiest: A Memetic Perspective
Is it reasonable to post that what's known as a "talking point" is a meme? And, if that's the case, that a narrative is a memeplex whose main memetic building blocks are the so-called "talking points"?
Narratives absorb the propositional contents of their constitutive talking-point-memes and turn them into an overarching claim suffused with moral undertones. This is by design, since in order to have a chance of thriving in a culture, narratives depend on their capacity to hijack our motivations. To do this, a narrative could hardly do better than to latch on to our propensity to pontificate.
A phenomenology of narrativization. When someone constructs and spreads a narrative, what is the internal experience of that individual like? What problem(s) are they trying to solve as they join talking points together into a storyline?
